‘Dark Romance’ was the inspiration du jour for Vera Wang‘s Fall offering at New York Fashion Week yesterday. The iconic designer label renowned for wedding gowns (the ultimate in bridal fairytales) took a walk on the dark side of the runway with this recent collection that was more zombie bride, less princess bride, with perhaps some added school girl attitude. Think plaid and argyle fabrics, tailored layers, sheer flowing black gowns, bejewelled collars and that slogan tee. The gothic-glam aesthetic was further conveyed by the models’ bed-head hair and pale au naturel beauty looks. My personal favourites: the ‘You Bug Me’ embellished tee and the flowing fanned sheer black gown with delicate pleated detail and neckline. Simply, beautiful!
