Christian Dior Spring/Summer 2013 Haute Couture show – Paris
There is little I love more than a beautiful couture collection and it is no secret that Christian Dior is always my particular favourite. Models sauntered through a maze of wonderland-like garden hedges in the enchanting show suitably set in Paris’ Tuilleries this week. The collection itself beautifully balanced an array of sheer florals, structured peplums, bustiers and voluminous gowns in a vast palette of blacks, brights and pastels. Sheer fabrics, intricate embroidery and voluminous shapes defined the ethereal ensembles, in the second couture collection by Dior designer Raf Simons. Simons held true to traditional Christian Dior aesthetics while also uniquely combining ballet-like femininity with structured silhouettes along with floral headpieces, gloves, and metallic hued heels. The final touch was of course the bright embellished beauty look, with each model’s lips adorned with red and pink pave’ diamantes. Simply stunning! I found the Spring Summer ’13 couture collection by Christian Dior to be uniquely beautiful. I love the whimsical way the collection and the show was curated in the ultimate depiction of creativity come to life.
